Lord Byron (George Gordon) was born in London in January 1788. He published his first poems at tthe age of 19, at 21 started travelling, at 28 left England forever. He died during Greek Independence war in 1824. Most of his work was done during his journeys (1816-24). His most famoous works include Manfred, Cain and Childe Harold.

Brief biography

1788 - Byron is born on 22 January in London
1790 - Byron is taken by his mother to Aberdeen, Scotland
1793 - Byron enters his first school
1798 - He is titled Lord Byron and moves with his mother to Newstead Abbey
1805 - Byron enters Trinity College, Cambridge
1806 - His first volume of poems "Fugitive Pieces" is privately printed
1809 - He sails from Falmouth for Lisbon with his friend John Cam Hobhouse
1811 - Byron returns to England
1812 - Byron meets his future wife for the first time
1813 - Publication of The Giaour (June) and The Bride of Abydos (December)
1814 - Byron becomes engaged to Annabella Milbanke
1815 - He marries Annabella on 2 January but one year later Byron's wife leaves him
1816 - Byron leaves England forever
1819 - Mazeppa is published in June, Don Juan cantos I and II in July
1824 - Byron catches a chill in the rain on April 9. He dies at Missolonghi on 19 April
Byron is buried in Hucknall Torkard Church, near Newstead Abbey
